Nairobi County is the Capital of Kenya. In the 2022-2027 government, Dr. Anastasia Mutethia is serving as the Health Minister for Nairobi county. (This is as of November 2022). In the 2017-2022 government, Hitan Majevda held this position. Health Ministers are also known as ‘CEC Member for Health’ or CEC Representative for Health.
CEC stands for County Executive Committee. The committees’ chief executive is the county governor while the deputy chief executive is the deputy county governor. In addition to the health representative, the committee has other representatives (approximately ten in total). They represent other devolved functions listed here. Depending on the county, devolved roles are combined differently.
Nairobi County has 17 Sub-Counties:

In summary, Nairobi County has 1,243 health facilities spread across the 17 sub-counties. 8.7% of these are faith-based facilities (108) while 12.6% belong to the ministry of health (157). This leaves 10% under NGO’s (124) and 68.7% listed as private facilities (854). Kenya has a total of 14,251 health facilities. This translates to Nairobi County having 8.7% of the country’s Total Facilities.

In Dagoretti North sub-county, there are 108 health facilities. This makes up 9% of the health facilities in Nairobi County and 0.76% of the total number in the country.
Dagoretti North houses the following 5 Wards: Gatina, Kabiro, Kawangware, Kileleshwa & Kilimani.

- Westlands has the highest number (123) of health facilities (10% of Nairobi County & 0.86% of Kenya).
- Langata has the highest number of Faith-Based Health Facilities. (Total of 16 out of 108)
- Kibra has the highest number of Ministry of Health Facilities (Public). (Total of 22 out of 157)
- Westlands has the highest number of Private Health Facilities. (Total of 93 out of 854)
- Kibra has the highest number of NGO Health Facilities. (Total of 18 out of 124)
