Bomet County is located in the Rift-Valley region of Kenya. In the 2022-2027 government, Joseph Sitonik is serving as the Health Minister for Bomet county. (This is as of November 2022). He also held this position in the 2017-2022 government. Health Ministers are also known as ‘CEC Member for Health’ or CEC Representative for Health.
CEC stands for County Executive Committee. The committees’ chief executive is the county governor while the deputy chief executive is the deputy county governor. In addition to the health representative, the committee has other representatives (approximately ten in total). They represent other devolved functions listed here. Depending on the county, devolved roles are combined differently.

- Bomet Central
- Bomet East
- Chepalungu
- Konoin
- Sotik
In summary, Bomet County has 204 health facilities spread across the 5 sub-counties. 4.4% of these are faith-based facilities (9) while 77.5% belong to the ministry of health (158). This leaves 0.7% under NGO’s (1) and 17.6% listed as private facilities (36). Kenya has a total of 14,251 health facilities. Therefore, these figures translate to Bomet County having 1.43% of the country’s Total Facilities.

In conclusion,
- The 5 sub-counties of Bomet each have 5 wards. Bomet therefore has a total of 25 wards. .
- Sotik has the highest number (49) of health facilities (24% of Bomet County & 0.34% of Kenya).
- Bomet Central has the highest number of Faith-Based Health Facilities. (Total of 3 out of 9)
- Sotik has the highest number of Ministry of Health Facilities (Public). (Total of 40 out of 158)
- Konoin has the highest number of Private Health Facilities. (Total of 12 out of 36)
- Only Bomet Central has an NGO Health Facilities. (1 out of 1).
